PhotoScrub

See what your photo gives away. Then wipe it.

Photos carry hidden details: where they were taken, which phone took them, and when. Drop a photo to see them, then download a clean copy. It all happens on your device.

    How it works

    1. Drop your photosPick photos or drag them into the box. They are read on your device.
    2. See what is insideLocation, device, date and other hidden details are listed for each photo.
    3. Download clean copiesRemove the metadata and save copies that look exactly the same.

Why clean a photo before you share it

Most phones save the exact GPS position into every photo when location is on for the camera. If you send the original file, the person who gets it can read that position with any free viewer. For a photo taken at home, that is your home address.

Big social networks usually remove this data from the public copy, but many other routes keep it: email attachments, files sent “as document” in chat apps, cloud links, online marketplaces, forums and your own website. Cleaning the file first means you do not have to know which is which.

This tool removes the data without re-compressing the picture, so the image looks exactly the same and the file usually gets a little smaller.

    Questions

    Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The page reads and cleans the file inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, which you can confirm by switching off your internet after the page has loaded: it keeps working.

    What exactly gets removed?

EXIF (location, camera, dates, serial numbers), XMP, IPTC, comments, PNG text fields and hidden extra images that some phones attach. The color profile is kept so colors look right, and by default a single rotation flag is kept so the photo is not shown sideways.

    Does it reduce image quality?

No. The picture data is copied byte for byte. Only the metadata blocks are dropped.

    Which formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG and WebP can be checked and cleaned. HEIC photos from iPhone can be checked; to clean them, share the photo as JPEG first.

    Is it free?

Yes, for up to three photos at a time. Pro is a one-time payment that removes the limit and adds a single ZIP download for the whole batch.
