Choose photosLossless, not re-saved
Many tools remove metadata by opening the image and saving it again. That re-compresses a JPEG and quietly lowers its quality. This tool works on the file structure instead: it walks through the blocks inside the file and drops the ones that hold metadata, so the image data is copied byte for byte.
The color profile is kept so colors do not shift, and a single orientation flag is kept by default so the photo is not displayed sideways. You can turn that off under the drop box.
What is removed in each format
- JPEG: EXIF (including GPS and thumbnails), XMP, extended XMP, IPTC and Photoshop data, comments, MPF and other embedded images after the main picture.
- PNG: eXIf, tEXt, zTXt, iTXt and tIME chunks.
- WebP: EXIF and XMP chunks, with the file header updated to match.

Questions
Can I clean many files at once?
Free cleans up to three files at a time. Pro has no limit and adds a single ZIP download.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, it does not need the internet to clean files.
Will the file size change?
It usually gets smaller by the size of the metadata removed, from a few KB to several hundred KB for photos with embedded previews.
